About
the Artist
My name is Hannah Jong, some people call me Fynn.
I was educated at the Academy of Arts "Minerva" in the city of Groningen
in the Netherlands. I have a double education at the Academy. The
first time I got my teachers-license and I studied drawing, painting
and graphic arts next to that.
The second time my main subject was photography and, next to that,
graphic arts with Lithography as a specialism. I combine my work
as an independent artist with my job as a high-school art teacher.
have been an animal-lover all my life and throughout the years animals
have
manifested themselves as wonderful models in my work. I am, myself,
the proud owner of a brilliant border collie, a beautiful strong
horse,
a bossy little pony and an obstinate cat. When I'm not working I
like to spend my
time riding through nature on my horse escorted by my dog.
About my work
My work balances on the description of "fine-art" Although it's
very detailed and realistic, I do not create the animal "hair by
hair" all over.
Some parts of the work will be rougher and more expressive.
My work has it's own quality. By making clear choices about "colour"
"structure" and "composition" I usualy take more "out
of" a photograph than the visual information allows on first sight....
And that is a quality that supports the idea that a work of art
can be so much more than just a larger version of your photograph....
